Property developer Phil Coby was stunned to discover a small piece of rock bearing the image of a Christ-like figure, while digging a toilet area for his dog in his back garden.
Mr Coby uncovered the 'holy stone' caked in mud some two-and-a-half feet underground outside his home in West Kilbride, North Ayrshire.
The 54-year-old was speechless when he took the rock inside and washed it, only to find a face similar to the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil staring back at him.
The father-of-three said: "It's been in the earth for God knows how long.
"It was covered in muck but straight away I knew it was unusual.

"I just pulled it out of the ground. I was digging a hole for a dog loo in the garden and found the rock in between two tree stumps.
"It was buried next to the roots of the trees. It must have been found for a reason.
"Other people might have thrown it away but I gave it a good rub.
"I showed it to my son and asked 'who is that?'. He said 'Jesus'."
Mr Coby has now given the Christ-like stone pride of place beneath a lamp in the family lounge.
